A big THANK YOU to everyone using, supporting, extending & spreading the word about K2.
K2 has proven to be the de facto component for serious content management in Joomla!, a goal which would not be possible without the contribution of its enormous community. After all, it's the…

I had two issues, when building a web site, which were making it work, not as I wanted to be.
The first one was that on the print view of K2, I didn't want to show the comments, social sharing, the rating etc. I wanted to be more like a plain text, without the fancy stuff that I love displaying within the content.
My second issue was related to the look of the frontend submission layout of K2. The problem there was related to the template css, whi

I installed the quickicons module in my backend and I disabled the original one, however the top menu of the Joomla! Administrator is a bit user unfriendly.
Therefore, I made some adjustments of the mod_menu (backend) and install it in order to facilitate the access to the K2 features.
A new version is uploaded. The new version does not hack any core files.
In order to use it, download it, install, enable and disabl…

Have you tried a different editor than the standard wysiwyg editor in
Joomla with K2?
What is your favourite editor?
There are several editors out there, and there are pro's and con's for all of them. Of course, the showstopper would be if it do not work with K2 :-)
Some things to consider:
Extra buttons placed there by plug-ins: Can they be integrated above the text area instead of the mess of buttons you can get below the text area in the default editor in…

Each month we're rebooting our old templates in 2010, which means rebuilding the code with skills we've learned in the last couple of years, and updating to modern design trends. This month we're updating DailyPraise, one of our free templates.
We're completely restructuring the template to harness the power of K2 for a news site. This will be our first FREE/GPL K2 template!

Over the past few weeks, in between work and family commitments, I have spent quite a bit of time providing support to K2 and Joomla users across a range of forums, It is now time to get back in to the swing of things and provide so more useful content.
After some discussions with other contacts, I decided my next project would be to create an E-Store using just K2.
Not only will I be creating a micro site with…

This Module exceeds by far the K2-Content module in options and functionality! Display NewsK2 is integration in one tool all that are need for content publishing: miscellaneous orderings (8 types), reach filtering and flexible output (by user defined template). This module also may be used for show content of specific author, news of today and many others.
Content items can be positioned vertically and horizontally. User defined format is the best feature of this module. You may compile output…

This (only 3 files) K2 hack allow you to select the tag from a pull down in the right pane of the K2-Editor through a new parameter set "Multiple Tag Selection" The example you see is in combination with the JCE-Editor (freely available). Works with TinyMCE as well of course. The functionality does not allow users anymore to create their own Tag which becomes quite chaotic especially when you want to use the Menu link option "Tag"

In an effort to further assist K2 and its users, K2Joom launches a new forum.
I know it is Kunena powered, for the time being, but it should allow a familiar and improved experience in terms of searching for answers, cataloging issues and logging feature requests.
A K2 powered forum is currently being researched, if you are interested to help, then we would all like to see this kind of solution for K2.
I shall still be posting major finds here at the K2 community as well as working with the t…

Starting from today, the entire K2 site network (main download site, community and demo sites) are migrating to a dedicated domain.
http://getk2.org
The reasons are clear:
- K2 has been a major success in less than a year (was released in late March 2009) and it's already been downloaded more than 150.000 times. It does deserve a dedicated domain by now!
- Major Joomla! template designers are steadily embracing K2 and we wanna prepare the ground for even more by…
