How can I get the title of the item and a link to it to put in the email as well?

Ive noticed that K2 converts any & signs in the item text to & but that it doesnt do so in the item titles which is causing my site not to validate. How can I get K2 to do this?

is there a way of being notified when someone submits a new item. Very important for those who are not allowed to publish as without this notification admin do not know of a new article awaiting app…

Normaly joomla sends a notification when a new item is added to the database.
and when will there be the ability for admin to receive email notification of newly submitted items - so that they can actualy publish them if the user submitting them doesnt have publishing rights.

Whatever is done will modify the core, but will work.
How about putting the category id's in a field like the xtra filelds and teach the core to parse them out.
Its changing the way things work - not likely to happen unless a module like followeyes…

you can get the extra fields like this if it suits your needs
$custom = $this->item->extra_fields;
and then addressing extra fields for the item like
echo $custom[1]->value; depending on the position, 0, 1,2,3,4 etc in the array
