Installing templates
Hi everybody, again sorry my english. Well, i want to install a new
template in joomla, and use k2.
I´m not sure i understand the procedure.
Question1
The only thing i have to do is to install the template on the back-end
menu and that´s all?
Do i have to do something else? And why?
Question2
I installed a template and in the main menu the menu items that i have
don´t appear with an anordered list, not with the same menu that the
demo site haves. With a dinamic menu. why that?

Question3
It is possible to have subcategories listed in the main menu with any
template? I want to have some categories and when you click over the
category it appears the subcategories. How can i do it?
A lot of questions i know.

Hi Tiago,
Q1. Install Joomla template the same as normal.
K2 is supplied with its own Default template that will work with Joomla template.
This can be changed, or multiple K2 templates can be setup, but that is perhaps best for another time. K2Joom.com has information on how to use K2 templates.
Q2 Your menu has not been designed as a list but using tables.
Q3 Do you mean that you want a menu that expands/flyouts when you hover over the category?
If so, you might find advise from a user here, but this is more to do with css/js etc and not specific to K2.
There are plenty of web resources like dynamicdrive.com that have information and downloads to achieve such things, or you could look for a dynamic menu extension to install.

Whatever is done will modify the core, but will work.
How about putting the category id's in a field like the xtra filelds and teach the core to parse them out.
Its changing the way things work - not likely to happen unless a module like followeyes…
I don't think the concept of the single-category per item content structure is a way of thinking that is advanced and, therefore, a reason to change the content construction strategy and our subsequent way of thinking. It is merely a huge limitation…
2. if you are trying to remove a video from an item in the backend, click on the video tab scroll to the bottom and check delete currrent and save

There is a problem with excess of free space between 'itemListSubCategories' and 'itemList'. It seems to be derving from div class 'itemlistsubcategories' Please see the image attached. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Via CSS?Thanks!
you can get the extra fields like this if it suits your needs
$custom = $this->item->extra_fields;
and then addressing extra fields for the item like
echo $custom[1]->value; depending on the position, 0, 1,2,3,4 etc in the array

Did you ever find out how to put one single extra field (not the whole bunch...) a different place than at the bottom of the article?
This means we need to have a way to identify this particular field and add the code for it…
